The Yaesu ft1500r was one of my rig collection, i have also had the Yaesu FT50, a bit small for me personally but still a nice hard and rugged dual band rig.
I now have my new 8900. along with the Yaesu FT290 a 2mtr rig and the FT790, for 70 cms. Both the 290 & 790 are multimode rigs where the 1500 is voice and data only rig.
Both the 790 and 290 are only low power radios, (QRP) at most 2 watts output but still as good today as when they were nade, and still almost as popular as they have a great deal to offer the operator of the radio.

This Yaesu ft290 is a 2mtr mobile/portable rig, it has a sister rig, the Yaesu ft790 which is a 70cms rig. Both are really nice to work on and easy to use.

This Yaesu 736 homebase is a really nice radio. I have one at home, it is a really nice rig to listen to and to work on.....

The Yaesu ft1500, another of the rigs i have.

Below is the VX7, a very nice submersible rig, this particular radio can be submersed in water for approimatly 30 minutes at a depth of 3 foot.  I have never tried testing the theory of it myself, but this is the information which comes from the manufacturers..
